Have you ever wondered what it takes to truly feel joyful again?
I recently was listening to the lecture about the importance of feeling Joy in our everyday life. I asked myself: When the last time I did feel the joy? I remembered that I did teach the workshop on this topic during covid time. I found an old Yoga Nidra recording from the lecture, where I was guiding to find the joy in simple things. I started practicing it every day. I strongly felt that I need to share the practice and why we need it with my students.
We often search for complex solutions to quiet our minds and uplift our spirits, forgetting that the most profound shifts usually come from the simplest acts of connection, kindness and a desire to feel Joy.
I would like to share a beautiful story that perfectly captures this truth. It tells the tale of a little girl who packed a suitcase with chocolate chip cookies and root beer, determined to take a journey to meet the Divine. She only made it a few blocks before sitting next to an elderly woman in a park. Without exchanging a single word, the girl shared her cookies and her drink, and the two spent the entire afternoon simply eating and smiling at one another.
When the elderly woman returned home, radiant with peace, she told her son she had just eaten cookies with the Divine—and noted that she was much younger than expected. Meanwhile, the little girl went home and told her mother the exact same thing, marveling at the beautiful smile of the woman she had met.
This sweet exchange reminds us that we often underestimate the power of a smile, a kind presence, and the smallest act of caring. True joy isn't always a complex state we have to engineer; sometimes, it is the natural byproduct of a shared moment.
In our upcoming short yoga class, How to Bring Joy Back Into Our Lives, we will explore this very concept. We will use our practice to gently reset our nervous systems, open our hearts, and cultivate the inner stillness required to recognize the joy that already exists in our daily lives.
Let’s practice making time for connection—both with ourselves and with each other. I invite you to join me for this special, uplifting session.
